Here are two tasty, easy-to-prepare recipes that can be made using any of the flavours in our range of Biltong products:
Biltong Spread
125 g / 5 oz Smooth Cream Cheese
30 ml / 2 Tbsp Mayonnaise
30 ml / 2 Tbsp Lemon Juice
60 g / 4 Tbsp grated or chopped Biltong
Salt & freshly ground Black Pepper to taste
Combine all the ingredients and spread on slices of whole-wheat bread. Garnish with thin slices of lemon or cucumber. This makes a tasty lunchbox meal or a Sunday evening snack. Or, spread the Biltong mixture on savoury biscuits and garnish with sliced olives or gherkins. Serve as a starter or savoury platter at a cocktail party.
Potato Salad with Biltong
1 kg / 4.5 lbs Potatoes, boiled until just tender
125 - 250 g / 6 - 9 oz Sliced Biltong
2 onions, chopped
125 g / 5 oz button mushrooms, sliced
1 green sweet pepper, seeded and chopped
Dressing
100 ml of mayonnaise
100 ml sour cream
100 g Cheddar cheese, grated
3 eggs, boiled and mashed
30 ml / 2 Tbsp Mrs Ball's chutney
Salt & freshly ground black pepper to taste
15 ml / 1 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley
Skin and slice the potatoes
Fry the onions, mushrooms and green pepper in oil until the onions are transparent.
Scatter the potato slices and the Biltong over the onion mix.
Mix the dressing ingredients together and then stir into the potatoes. This dish can be served hot or cold. It makes a tasty dish to accompany a barbeque (Braai) or served alongside other salads on a summer’s day. Also great to serve at a picnic.
