The Tri Nations resumes on Saturday 21st August 2010 at the new Soccer City Stadium in Soweto, and there's a lot at stake when the Springboks host the All Blacks. Cheer on your favourite team by creating a traditional South African atmosphere in your own home. Stock-up on your favourite South African foods such as biltong and boerewors to snack on while enjoying the game with a group of your best mates.
After dominating the tournament so far, the All Blacks are just one bonus point away from wrapping up the title. Even more reason to support the Springboks in spirit.
But while New Zealand have plenty to play for, the same can be said of the Springboks. Captain John Smit is on 99 caps and the most-capped captain in Test history so is under pressure to hold his spot in the team.
The South Africa forwards were outplayed by New Zealand and Australia in previous games and they’ll be out to make amends in front of a large home crowd. Scoring opportunities for the likes of Bryan Habana have been very rare so it is hoped he will be more involved in Saturdays game.
The All Blacks might have won both Tests so far against South Africa but the Boks won all three last year so it is that we look forward to a much better showing from them this weekend. If they remain disciplined and keep 15 men on the paddock, unlike their three previous Tri Nations matches this year, they’ll test Richie McCaw and his men.
But New Zealand will be confident. They have won five of their last ten Tests on South African soil, including two wins at altitude in Pretoria when they averaged 48 points per game.
The Wallabies will hope the Springboks can beat the All Blacks and stop them from picking up a bonus point thus keeping Australia’s very slim hopes of winning the Tri Nations alive.
With over 90,000 fans cheering for the Boks (I wonder if the Vuvuzela's will join in?), It is sure to be a great atmosphere, so grab your biltong and can of cream soda (or stonger) and lets cheer the Springboks on!
